Lotte Anker is a renowned Danish saxophonist and composer who has carved out a unique space in the realms of experimental jazz, improvisation, and contemporary music. Born in Copenhagen in 1958, Anker's musical journey began with classical piano studies, but her path took a pivotal turn in 1980 when she embraced the saxophone and the world of improvised music, drawing inspiration from legends like John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter, as well as the vibrant experimental jazz scene in Scandinavia.

Anker's music is a captivating blend of melodic, often fragmented elements and abstract textural material, ranging from minimal and transparent to dense and dark expressionism. Her compositions and performances are known for their depth and complexity, reflecting her extensive experience and collaboration with some of the world's leading improvisational musicians, including Fred Frith, Marilyn Crispell, and Andrew Cyrille.

As a co-founder and co-leader of the Copenhagen Art Ensemble, alongside Marilyn Crispell and Ture Larsen, Anker has not only contributed significantly to the Danish music scene but has also gained international recognition.
