Thomas Simaku

Thomas Simaku is a renowned composer whose music transcends borders, reflecting his unique heritage as an Albanian born in Kavajë and his British citizenship. Born in 1958, Simaku's compositions have been performed across the globe by some of the world's most esteemed musicians. His educational journey includes graduating from the Tirana Conservatoire and earning a PhD in composition from the University of York, where he now serves as a Professor of Composition.

Simaku's work is marked by a highly expressive style, with a notable series being his cycle of "Soliloquys," which he began in 1998 and has since expanded to include every instrumental family of the orchestra.
