Tapan Sinha

Tapan Sinha, born in Kolkata in 1924, was a towering figure in Indian cinema, renowned for his unwavering commitment to his craft and his significant contributions to both Bengali and Hindi cinema. Often hailed as one of the most prominent directors of his time, Sinha formed a legendary quartet with Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak, and Mrinal Sen, collectively shaping the landscape of Indian parallel cinema. His illustrious career spanned over six decades, during which he directed more than 40 feature films, earning him 19 National Awards and the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2008.
