Steven Mackey

Steven Mackey is a Grammy-winning American composer and guitarist, celebrated for his innovative works that span chamber ensemble, orchestra, dance, and opera. Born in 1956 to American parents stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, Mackey has become one of the leading composers of his generation. His music is known for its highly individual idiom, characterized by a multi-layered play of rhythm and bright sonorities. Commissioned by some of the world's greatest orchestras, Mackey's compositions have left a significant mark on the contemporary classical music scene.
