Santhosh Lal
Santosh Lal, affectionately known as Bunty, was an Indian cricketer whose legacy transcends the boundaries of the sport. Born in 1975, Lal was a gifted wicket-keeper batsman who represented Jharkhand in domestic cricket, earning praise for his natural talent and innovative techniques. His most enduring contribution to cricket, however, was his mentorship of fellow Ranchi native and cricketing legend, MS Dhoni. It was Lal who first perfected and taught Dhoni the iconic "helicopter shot," a stroke that would become Dhoni's signature move and a staple of modern cricket. Lal's innovative wrist technique, honed on the dusty grounds of Ranchi, left an indelible mark on the game. Despite his own notable career, Lal's legacy is perhaps best remembered through his impact on Dhoni and his enduring connection to one of cricket's most celebrated shots.
