Rudolf Komorous

Rudolf Komorous is a Czech-born Canadian composer, bassoonist, and music educator who has left an indelible mark on the music scene, particularly on Canada's west coast since his immigration in 1969. Born on December 8, 1931, in Prague, Komorous studied composition with Pavel Borkovec in the 1950s and excelled as a bassoon player, even winning first prize at the Concours. His works, such as "Twenty-Three Poems about Horses" and "Bare and Dainty," have been performed throughout Europe and North America. Komorous' compositions, ranging from orchestral to chamber works, reflect his deep musical roots and innovative spirit, making him a significant figure in contemporary classical music.
