Richard Bonynge

Richard Bonynge is a renowned Australian conductor and pianist, celebrated for his deep commitment to the bel canto repertoire. Born in Sydney in 1930, Bonynge's musical journey began at the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music, where he honed his skills as a pianist. His career took a significant turn when he married the legendary Australian soprano Dame Joan Sutherland, with whom he collaborated extensively, conducting virtually all of her operatic performances from 1962 until her retirement in 1990.
