Per Mathisen

Per Mathisen, affectionately known as "The Bass Viking," is a dynamic Norwegian jazz bassist and composer who seamlessly blends acoustic and electric power jazz into a unique crossover sound. Born on October 7, 1969, in Sandefjord, Norway, Per has shared the stage with legendary artists like Terri Lyne Carrington, Geri Allen, and Bill Bruford, showcasing his versatility across jazz fusion, Latin jazz, and funk rock genres. With a solid musical foundation from Trondheim Conservatory and Berklee College of Music, Per's expertise on both upright and electric bass has earned him the title of EBS Ambassador. Beyond his impressive musical career, Per is a devoted family man, married to Olga Konkova and brother to fellow musicians Hans, Nils, and Ole Mathisen. Residing in Sylling, Buskerud, Norway, Per continues to captivate audiences worldwide with his innovative compositions and electrifying performances.
