Ninu Mazumdar

Ninu Mazumdar, affectionately known by his pet name, was a trailblazer in the world of Gujarati light music, or Sugam Sangeet, alongside the renowned Avinash Vyas. Born Niranjan Mazumdar on September 9, 1915, he left an indelible mark on the Indian music industry with his contributions as a music director and vocalist. With 20 Hindi films to his credit and 28 Hindi film songs in his own voice, Mazumdar's musical prowess extended beyond regional boundaries. His work, including the album "Suno Mhaaree Arjee" and the EP "Paristan (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)," continues to captivate audiences, offering a glimpse into his rich musical legacy. Mazumdar passed away on March 3, 2000, but his melodies live on, celebrating a life dedicated to the art of music.
