Moor Mother, born Camae Ayewa in 1981, is a Philadelphia-based poet, musician, and activist who has been making waves in the experimental hip hop and spoken word scenes since 2012. Known as "the poet laureate of the apocalypse" by Pitchfork, her music is a powerful blend of blk girl blues, witch rap, and black ghost songs, creating a unique and haunting soundscape. With nine studio albums under her belt, including "The Great Bailout" released in 2024, Moor Mother's work is a testament to her raw talent and unapologetic approach to art. Beyond her solo work, she is also part of the interdisciplinary artist duo Black Quantum Futurism with Rasheedah Phillips. Moor Mother's music is not just about sound; it's about storytelling, activism, and pushing the boundaries of what music can be.
