Michael Byron

Michael Byron is an American visual artist and experimental composer, born in Chicago in 1953 and raised in Los Angeles. With a strong academic background, he holds a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and an MFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. His work spans various genres, including experimental music and avant-garde visual art, and is featured in prestigious collections such as the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Byron's artistic journey began under the mentorship of notable figures like James Tenney and Richard Teitelbaum. Beyond his artistic pursuits, he is also a professor and chair of philosophy at Kent State University, blending his creative and intellectual endeavors. His diverse body of work, from abstract art to collages and portraits, reflects a deep exploration of form, sound, and concept.
