Maurizio Cazzati

Maurizio Cazzati, born in Luzzara, Italy, in 1616, was a prominent Italian composer of the seventeenth century. Known for his significant contributions to the musical landscape of mid-seicento Italy, Cazzati's work spans a vast array of compositions, with approximately 66 volumes to his name. His opus 35, published in 1665, is notable for containing the first known example of a trumpet concerto, showcasing his innovative spirit. Appointed as the Chapel-master of San Petronio in Bologna in 1657, Cazzati's influence extended beyond his hometown of Mantua, leaving an indelible mark on the Baroque era.
