Masqualero

Masqualero, active from the early 1980s to the early 1990s, was a Norwegian jazz group that left an indelible mark on the evolution of Nordic jazz. Originally known as "The Arild Andersen Quintet," the band renamed itself Masqualero in homage to the Wayne Shorter composition, reflecting their deep appreciation for the jazz tradition. Led by the formidable bass player Arild Andersen, the group also featured the dynamic Jon Christensen on drums and the versatile Tore Brunborg on tenor and soprano saxophones. Masqualero's discography includes four critically acclaimed albums, three of which were honored with the prestigious Spellemannsprisen. Their music is celebrated for its haunting and sophisticated sound, earning them the title of a 'Norwegian supergroup' and solidifying their status as influential figures in the jazz world.
