Marc Mellits

Marc Mellits is a vibrant and prolific American composer, born in Baltimore in 1966, who has made a significant mark on the contemporary classical music scene. Known for his rhythmically alive and vividly orchestrated works, Mellits blends minimalist and post-minimalist techniques with influences from rock music, creating pieces that are as engaging as they are innovative. As one of the most frequently performed living American composers, his music is not only a delight to play but also a joy to experience. Mellits is also the artistic director and keyboardist of the Mellits Consort, further showcasing his versatility and dedication to his craft. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Illinois at Chicago, continuing to inspire and educate the next generation of musicians.
