Josep Solà i Sànchez
Josep Solà i Sànchez (1930-2009) was a prolific Catalan composer and musician, renowned for his contributions to both classical music and traditional sardana. Born in Mollet del Vallès, he began his musical journey under the tutelage of Àngel Catafau before furthering his studies at the Conservatori Superior Municipal de Música de Barcelona, where he was a student of the esteemed Joan Suñé i Sintes. A versatile instrumentalist, Solà i Sànchez excelled on both the violin and double bass.
Throughout his career, he composed a diverse range of works, including symphonies and suites, and was particularly active in the Catalan cinema scene during the 1950s and 1970s. His compositions, such as "Esbós Gaudinià" and "Cinderella-Suite Nr. 1," showcase his mastery and creativity. The municipality of Mollet honored him as a distinguished citizen, naming a plaza after him. Solà i Sànchez's legacy continues to inspire, with his works still celebrated and performed today.
