Joris Roelofs

Joris Roelofs is a captivating Dutch jazz musician, born in Aix-en-Provence, France, and now based in Amsterdam. A versatile reedist, he masterfully plays the saxophone, clarinet, and flute, with a particular affinity for the bass clarinet. Roelofs' journey in music began at the tender age of six, and he has since honed his skills, graduating from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he now teaches clarinet. His musical prowess has led him to collaborate with renowned artists, including the legendary free jazz drummer Han Bennink in their duo project "Icarus." Roelofs' music is a thrilling blend of technical brilliance and philosophical depth, making him a standout figure in the world of free jazz.
