Johanna Senfter (1879-1961) was a prolific German composer who left an indelible mark on classical music with her 134 works spanning various genres. A student of the renowned Max Reger, Senfter was praised for her exceptional talent and stylistic independence. Her compositions, deeply influenced by Bach, Brahms, and Reger, showcase her mastery of fugue and her versatility as a composer. Senfter's oeuvre includes nine symphonies, 26 orchestral works, and concertos for piano, violin, viola, and cello. Beyond her composing, she was also a respected violinist, pianist, and philanthropist, founding musical societies and enriching the cultural life of her hometown, Oppenheim. Her works, though somewhat obscured after her death, are now being rediscovered and celebrated for their depth and innovation.
