Jeanne-Marie Darre

Jeanne-Marie Darré (1905–1999) was a French classical pianist renowned for her lyrical and elegant interpretations of solo piano works. Born in Givet and passing away in Port-Marly, Darré began her musical journey at the age of five, studying with her mother before enrolling at the prestigious Paris Conservatoire under the tutelage of Isidor Philipp and Marguerite Long. Her career took off early, with her first recordings made during a tour of England in 1922, showcasing her extraordinary power and energy even in the acoustic recordings of the time. Darré's performances were often described as vibrant and full of vitality, capturing the essence of the compositions she brought to life.
