Hermann Baumann

Hermann Baumann, a legendary German horn player, was a trailblazer in the revival of Baroque and Classical period music, specializing in the natural horn. Born in Hamburg in 1934, Baumann's musical journey began with singing and jazz drumming before he dedicated himself to the horn at the age of 17. Renowned for his singing tone and exceptional musicianship, he excelled both as a soloist and in chamber works. Baumann's extensive recordings span various labels, showcasing his prolific career. As a professor of horn at the Folkwang University in Essen, he also nurtured the next generation of musicians. His legacy endures as one of the most influential horn players of his time.
