Helge Rosvaenge

Helge Rosvaenge, born Helge Anton Rosenvinge Hansen on August 29, 1897, in Copenhagen, Denmark, was a renowned operatic tenor whose career flourished primarily in Germany and Austria. Initially pursuing a career in chemistry, he studied at the Technical College of Copenhagen before discovering his passion for singing. Largely self-taught as a vocalist, Rosvaenge made his debut in 1921 as Don Jose in Bizet's "Carmen" at Neustrelitz. His powerful tenor voice and captivating stage presence made him a celebrated figure in the opera world, particularly before, during, and after World War II. Rosvaenge's repertoire spanned a variety of genres, including opera and requiem, showcasing his versatility and artistic depth. He passed away on June 17, 1972, in Munich, Germany, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire opera enthusiasts worldwide.
