Guy Klucevsek was an innovative American accordionist and composer who defied conventional expectations of his instrument. Born in New York City in 1947, Klucevsek began playing the accordion at the age of five and went on to study at the California Institute of the Arts. He was a pivotal figure in the accordion renaissance, blending polka, minimalism, and experimental music to create a unique and eclectic body of work. Klucevsek's collaborations were as diverse as his compositions, ranging from dance pieces to jazz quartets, and his influence extended far beyond the typical polka repertoire. His final album, "Little Big Top," released in 2024, showcases his enduring creativity and collaboration with visionary trumpeter Volker Goetze. Klucevsek passed away in 2025, leaving behind a legacy that expanded the accordion's repertoire and captivated audiences worldwide.
