Settling in Denmark in 1810, Kuhlau quickly established himself as a renowned pianist and composer, becoming a central figure of the Danish Golden Age. His most enduring work, "Elverhøj," composed in 1828, is celebrated as the first true work of Danish National Romanticism and remains a beloved piece in Danish cultural history. Kuhlau's contributions to piano music are extensive, with his Six Sonatinas, Op. 55, being particularly notable for their role in preparing students for the study of classical sonatas.
