Enrique Bátiz

Enrique Bátiz was a renowned Mexican conductor and concert pianist, born in Mexico City to Polish and Mexican parents. His musical journey began at an early age, studying piano with his mother before he could even reach the pedals. Bátiz honed his skills in Dallas, New York City, and Warsaw, eventually shifting his focus to conducting in 1969. He is celebrated for co-founding the Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México in 1971, which he led until 2018, with a notable stint as the artistic director of the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra from 1983 to 1989. Bátiz's discography is extensive, featuring over 145 recordings that span symphonies by Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, the complete orchestral works by Joaquín Rodrigo, and compositions by Mexican artists. His contributions to the classical music world have left an indelible mark, making him a beloved figure among classical music enthusiasts worldwide.
