Diyang Mei

Diyang Mei is a rising star in the classical music world, captivating audiences with his exceptional talent on the viola. Born in China, Mei has quickly established himself as one of the most promising viola soloists, chamber musicians, and orchestral players of his generation. His impressive career includes winning first prize in the prestigious Max Rostal International Violin & Viola Competitions in 2015 and being supported as a BBT Artist by the London Borletti-Buitoni Trust since 2018. Mei's artistry is further enriched by his role as the principal violist of the renowned Berliner Philharmoniker, a position he has held since 2022, making him the first Chinese musician to achieve this honor. In addition to his performing career, Mei shares his expertise as a guest professor at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. With his Antonio Mariani viola (ca. 1646) in hand, Mei continues to inspire and enchant audiences worldwide with his intense and emotive performances.
