Alexander Melik-Pashayev was a renowned Soviet Armenian conductor, composer, pianist, and pedagogue, born on October 23, 1905, in Tiflis (now Tbilisi). He began his musical journey studying with Nikolai Tcherepnin at the Tbilisi Conservatory and later joined the Tbilisi Opera.
