Alessandro Besozzi

Alessandro Besozzi, the celebrated Italian composer and virtuoso oboist, was a luminary of the Baroque period, born in 1702 in either Parma or Piacenza. Renowned for his exceptional skill on the oboe, Besozzi began his illustrious career as a member of the ducal Guardia Irlandese, a prestigious hautboy band, from 1714 to 1728. Following this, he served as a virtuoso oboe player in various esteemed courts. His compositions, which include numerous chamber works, showcase his mastery and have been preserved in albums such as "Besozzi: Trio Sonate per due oboi e B.C." and "Besozzi: 6 trii per Oboe, Violino e Fagotto." Besozzi's legacy endures not only through his music but also as the patriarch of a distinguished family of musicians known for their oboe playing and composition. He passed away in Turin in 1793, leaving behind a rich musical heritage that continues to captivate audiences today.
