Aleksandra Vrebalov is a celebrated Serbian-American composer, born on September 22, 1970, in Novi Sad, Serbia (formerly Yugoslavia). Based in New York City and Novi Sad, she has created over 80 works that span a wide range of styles and genres. Her music has been recorded by prestigious labels such as Nonesuch, Cantaloupe, and Innova, and her compositions have earned her international acclaim. In 2024, Vrebalov was awarded the prestigious University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award in Music Composition for her powerful piece "Missa Supratext," scored for string quartet and girls' chorus.
