Britta Schwarz, born in 1964 in Neubrandenburg, Germany, is a renowned contralto whose voice has become synonymous with the rich, emotive power of Baroque music. Her journey began with vocal training at the prestigious Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin under the tutelage of Christa Niko, followed by further studies at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden. Schwarz has graced the stages with some of the world's most esteemed orchestras, including the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, and the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, under the baton of conductors like Kent Nagano and Philippe Herreweghe.

Her repertoire is deeply rooted in the Baroque era, with a particular affinity for the works of J.S. Bach. Schwarz has collaborated with renowned ensembles such as the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Freiburger Barockorchester, and Musica Antiqua Köln, bringing her unique interpretation and passion to life.
