T. M. Soundararajan, affectionately known as TMS, was a legendary figure in the world of Carnatic music and Tamil cinema. Despite initial rejections due to the unique qualities of his voice, TMS persevered and went on to become one of the most prolific playback singers in Tamil cinema, with an astonishing career spanning over six and a half decades.

TMS's voice was the melodic backbone for some of the most iconic actors in Tamil cinema, including M. G. Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan, and N. T. Rama Rao. His discography is a testament to his versatility, encompassing over 10,138 songs across 3,162 films, ranging from devotional and classical to semi-classical and light music. His emotive and versatile delivery made every song his own, earning him numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri and Kalaimamani.
