The Gisle Myklebust Quartet, hailing from Stavanger, Norway, is a dynamic and innovative jazz ensemble that has been captivating audiences since its formation in 1998. Led by the versatile saxophonist, flutist, and bass clarinetist Gisle Myklebust, the quartet is renowned for its high-energy performances and a diverse musical repertoire that spans from heartfelt ballads to intense, bebop-inspired compositions. With a foundation in hard bop, blues, and modal jazz of the 1970s, the group's original compositions offer a fresh and exciting take on classic jazz styles. Comprised of talented musicians including pianist Rolf Hinderaker, bassist Øystein Eldøy, and drummer Karsten Tillerli, the Gisle Myklebust Quartet has released six albums and collaborated with notable artists such as trumpeter/percussionist Per Jørgensen.
