Sergio Cervetti is a Uruguayan-born American composer and musician, born on November 9, 1940, in Dolores, Uruguay. His musical journey began early, influenced by his Italian clarinetist father and French mother. Cervetti left Uruguay in 1962 to study composition in the United States, where he has since made his home. His early works reflect a post-serialist language, with a deep connection to visual arts, particularly the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch. Cervetti gained international recognition in 1966 when he won a prestigious chamber music competition. His diverse portfolio includes operas like "The Happy Prince," inspired by Oscar Wilde's story, and contributions to film soundtracks such as "Natural Born Killers." With a career spanning over five decades, Cervetti's compositions continue to captivate audiences worldwide, as seen in his ninth album, "Mortal Dreams."
