Album Description
Sting's fifteenth studio album, "The Bridge," is a testament to the singer-songwriter's enduring artistry and versatility. Released on June 17, 2022, this collection of songs is a reflection of Sting's diverse musical journey, blending elements of soft rock, pop, folk, and world music. The album, produced by Martin, was written and recorded during the early stages of the global pandemic, a time of significant personal and global upheaval.
"The Bridge" features a rich tapestry of themes, exploring concepts of loss, separation, and the enduring connections between people and cultures. The album's title itself is a metaphor for the bridges that link ideas, continents, and states of mind. With a runtime of 72 minutes, the album includes 13 original tracks and several live recordings from Sting's FIP Session in Paris, as well as a Spanish version of "For Her Love" titled "Por Su Amor," featuring KURT.
The album marks the return of longtime collaborators Branford Marsalis on saxophone and clarinet, and Manu Katché on drums, adding a layer of familiarity and depth to the new material. Standout tracks like "Rushing Water," "If It's Love," and "The Book of Numbers" showcase Sting's signature storytelling and melodic prowess. The live sessions from Paris offer a glimpse into Sting's dynamic stage presence, with intimate performances of classics like "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" and "Message in a Bottle."
"The Bridge" is presented in a variety of formats, including a Super Deluxe edition with six-panel gatefold packaging and a poster booklet featuring Sting's personal notes on the songs. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to Sting's music, "The Bridge" offers a compelling and timely exploration of the human condition, framed through the lens of one of music's most enduring artists.
