Harald Weiss, born in Salzgitter, Germany, in 1949, is a versatile and accomplished artist whose work spans composition, direction, and screenwriting. His musical journey began at a young age, studying violin, piano, and composition, and later refining his skills at the State Institute of Music and Theatre in Hanover. Weiss's compositions are a unique blend of minimalism, jazz, and rock, reflecting his extensive travels and diverse influences from Africa, Asia, and Europe. He is known for his innovative use of percussion and voice, as showcased in his notable album "Trommelgeflüster." Weiss has received numerous accolades, including the Niedersächsischer Kulturpreis and the Praetorius Musikpreis, highlighting his significant contributions to the music world. Beyond his solo work, he has collaborated with ensembles like Ensemble Musica Negativa, where he also performed as a mandolinist.
