Søren Sko, born Søren Svenninggaard, is a celebrated Danish singer and songwriter, renowned for his powerful vocals and captivating songwriting. Born in Aalborg in 1963, Søren Sko gained fame as part of the iconic pop-rock duo Sko/Torp, which he formed with guitarist Palle Torp in 1989. Together, they released seven albums and sold approximately 400,000 copies in Denmark, becoming a staple of the Danish music scene. Søren Sko's journey began at a young age, moving to Hammel with his family and later adopting his stage name from his father's shoemaking profession. Before Sko/Torp, Søren honed his skills as a backing vocalist for notable artists like Poul Krebs and Sanne Salomonsen. His solo career, which began after the duo's hiatus in 1997, has also been highly successful, with six solo albums to his credit. Søren Sko's versatility and virtuosity as a saxophonist and composer have earned him a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim. He has won three Danish Grammy Awards, including "Årets nye danske navn" (New Danish Name of the Year) in 1991 and "Årets danske sanger" (Danish Singer of the Year) in 1991 and 1998. Beyond his music, Søren Sko has also made appearances as a judge on Denmark's version of "Popstars," showcasing his deep understanding and passion for the music industry.
