Born on 23 October 1946 in Jondalen, she was the daughter of Anders Buen and sister to the esteemed musicians Knut Buen and Hauk Buen. Her own son, Per Anders Buen Garnås, also followed in the family's musical footsteps. Agnes Buen Garnås was known for her unique interpretations of old Norwegian folk songs, collaborating with the legendary saxophonist Jan Garbarek on an album that blended traditional melodies with modern instrumentation.
