About Milt Jackson

Milt Jackson, affectionately known as "Bags," was a pioneering American jazz vibraphonist whose career spanned over three decades, leaving an indelible mark on the genre. Born in Detroit, Jackson began his professional journey at the tender age of 16 and quickly gained recognition for his innovative and swinging solos. He is best known for his work with the Modern Jazz Quartet, a group that showcased his unique blend of cool jazz and hard bop sensibilities. Throughout his career, Jackson collaborated with some of the most influential musicians of his time, including Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, and John Coltrane, contributing to the rich tapestry of jazz history.
