His compositions, which include eight symphonies, 15 concertos, 14 string quartets, and three operas, reflect a deep engagement with the musical traditions of Eastern Europe and a mastery of contemporary compositional techniques. Meyer's educational background is impressive, having studied with esteemed figures such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Witold Lutosławski, and Nadia Boulanger. He served as the dean of the Department of Music Theory at the State College of Music in Kraków and later as the president of the Polish Composers' Union.
