Ahmed Rushdi, born on April 24, 1934, in Hyderabad Deccan, India, was a legendary Pakistani playback singer whose voice defined the golden age of Pakistani film music. Known for his versatility and distinctive high tenor notes, Rushdi was a pioneer in South Asian music, often regarded as the first pop singer of the region. His iconic song "Ko Ko Korina" from the 1966 film Armaan remains a timeless classic. With a career spanning decades, Rushdi's discography is a treasure trove of emotional depth and musical brilliance, encompassing genres like ghazal and qawwali.
