Catherine Hewgill is a renowned Australian cellist, celebrated for her exceptional talent and contributions to the classical music scene. Born in Perth, Western Australia, in 1963, Hewgill began her musical journey at the age of ten, studying the cello with dedication and passion. Her early education took her to the Royal College of Music in London, followed by a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Southern California, where she was honored as the Outstanding Chamber Music Graduate.

Since 1990, Hewgill has held the prestigious position of principal cellist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, showcasing her mastery of the instrument in countless performances.
