Drones - Muse

Album Description

Muse's seventh studio album, Drones, is a thought-provoking and sonically stunning release that showcases the band's ability to craft a cohesive and captivating narrative. Released on 5 June 2015 through Warner Bros. Records and their own Helium-3 imprint, Drones is a masterclass in alternative rock, with the band's signature blend of heavy riffs, soaring vocals, and intricate instrumentation.

The album's 12 tracks, including 'Dead Inside', 'Psycho', and 'The Globalist', take the listener on a journey through a world of metaphorical psychopaths and drones, exploring the themes of control, free will, and the dehumanising effects of technology. With Matt Bellamy's powerful vocals and poignant lyrics at the forefront, Drones is an album that demands attention and reflection.

Produced by the band and Robert John "Mutt" Lange, Drones features a range of influences and styles, from the heavy, driving rhythms of 'Reapers' to the more introspective and melancholic 'Aftermath'. The album's orchestral sections, recorded at Officine Meccaniche in Milan, add a layer of depth and complexity to the band's sound, making Drones a truly immersive listening experience.

With its release, Drones topped both the UK and US Billboard charts, and went on to win a Grammy for Best Rock Album in 2016. The album's success was further cemented by the Drones World Tour, which saw the band perform to over 1.2 million fans and gross $23 million in ticket sales. Muse's Drones is a testament to the band's innovative spirit and their ability to create music that is both intellectually stimulating and viscerally exciting.
