Instead of following in his coal miner father's footsteps, Rocco embraced his passion for music, mastering the accordion and forming his own band, 'The International Quintet,' with whom he toured Belgium.

Granata's career skyrocketed with his 1959 international hit, "Marina," a song that remains his most celebrated and beloved work.
