About Carl Friedberg
Carl Friedberg, a German pianist of Jewish origin, was born on September 18, 1872, in Bingen, Germany. Renowned as the leading 20th-century representative of the Brahms/Schumann pianistic tradition, Friedberg's musical journey began under the tutelage of James Kwast and the legendary Clara Schumann at the Hoch Conservatory. By the age of sixteen, he was already sharing his musical insights as a private piano teacher, and by twenty-one, he was employed by the Hoch Conservatory itself. Friedberg's career was marked by his deep connection to the compositions of Brahms and Schumann, having even had the privilege of playing through nearly all of Brahms' keyboard works with the composer himself. His legacy as both a performer and an educator continues to inspire musicians and enthusiasts alike.
